Euro Pallet Calculator (1200 × 800)
How many boxes fit on a Euro / EPAL 1 (1200 x 800 mm) pallet, with the layer pattern, number of layers and load height.
How the Euro 1200 x 800 fit is worked out
The Euro pallet (EPAL 1) has a 1200 x 800 mm deck, which is 47.24 x 31.5 in and noticeably narrower than a GMA pallet. This calculator lays boxes flat on the deck in a single orientation, finds the better-fitting of the two orientations, then stacks identical layers to a target height.
Per layer:
boxes per layer = max( floor(1200 / boxL) x floor(800 / boxW), floor(1200 / boxW) x floor(800 / boxL) )
Layers come from the height above the deck. An EPAL pallet is about 144 mm tall, so a 1200 mm total load leaves roughly 1056 mm of box stack:
layers = floor(usable height / boxH) and total = boxes per layer x layers.
Worked example (page defaults)
Using the defaults of a 40 x 30 x 25 cm carton (400 x 300 x 250 mm) on the Euro 1200 x 800:
- Orientation A: floor(1200 / 400) x floor(800 / 300) = 3 x 2 = 6 cartons per layer
- Orientation B: floor(1200 / 300) x floor(800 / 400) = 4 x 2 = 8 cartons per layer
- Best layer = 8 cartons, tiling the deck exactly (8 x 400 x 300 = 960,000 mm2 = the full 0.96 m2 footprint, 100% floor use).
- Height: 1056 / 250 = 4 layers.
- Total = 8 x 4 = 32 cartons, with a load height of 144 + (4 x 250) = 1144 mm.
Euro / EPAL 1 spec table
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Footprint | 1200 x 800 mm (47.24 x 31.5 in) |
| Deck height | ~144 mm |
| Own weight | ~25 kg |
| Dynamic load | ~1,500 kg |
The Euro footprint is 0.96 m2 against the GMA pallet's 1.24 m2, so the same carton usually yields fewer per layer here. This is a single-orientation estimate and does not interlock or rotate individual cartons. To see the tie-and-high pattern directly, use the TI-HI calculator; to weigh the corner-stacked Euro load, see the Industrial 1200 x 1000 calculator or compare footprints in the GMA 48x40 calculator.
